Patrick McManus, PE, SE, PhD

Patrick is a licensed PE or SE in thirteen states with over 23 years of experience as a consulting engineer and in managing the engineering and detailing department for a steel fabricator. He has worked on a variety of large commercial projects with specific expertise in complex steel design. Patrick's PhD work involved a self-initiated investigation of the use of bolted components as replaceable parts in seismic applications. Patrick has been heavily involved with AISC including serving on the task committees on seismic systems and connections, the committee on research, and the connection prequalification review panel, as well as participating in numerous speaking engagements. While involved in DBIA he authored the design-build legislation for Wyoming. Patrick has also been an adjunct professor at Laramie County Community College, the University of Wyoming, and Colorado State University.

Jay Puckett, PE, PhD

Jay is a licensed engineer who has worked in research and development in the area of structural analysis, bridges, and design for the past 40 years. His breadth of experience spans from academic to consulting and corporate endeavors. He has performed research for several agencies including:  AISC, NCHRP, NSF, FHWA, USDOT, EPRI, and WYDOT.  Jay served the University of Wyoming for 32 years including roles as Head of the Civil and Architectural Engineering Department. He also worked with other professionals to completely rewriting the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ (AASHTO) Specification for the Design of Highway Bridges. ​Jay recently stepped down as Director of the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where he led the programs in architectural engineering, construction engineering, and construction management

Jack Petersen, PE, SE

Jack brings nearly 40 years of experience in consulting engineering to the Novel team. He is a licensed professional/structural engineer in five states and holds both BS and MS degrees in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado. Much of Jack’s career has focused on the design and management of large, complex steel structures including stadiums, arenas, high rise buildings and industrial structures. He served as a member of the AISC specification committee from 1999 to 2009 and a member of the AISC task committee on composite design. He also served on the AISC subcommittee on Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel in the 2015 code cycle.  Jack is Past President of the Structural Engineers Association of Colorado following the four-year officer track and is also active in the American Council of Engineering Companies and AIA. He frequently speaks at industry events and as a guest academic lecturer. Jack served as Structural Department Director and President of Martin/Martin, Inc. in Denver.
